Dr. Zacchini's research interests are focused on understanding how and whether environmental factors (i.e. parental age and assisted reproductive technologies) may contribute to the onset of post-natal disorders, such as psychiatric and metabolic diseases. Dr. Zacchini has extensive experience in the academic sector, where she acquired skills in the field of experimental embryology/developmental biology, behaviour and molecular biology. Dr. Zacchini has been principal investigator on two research projects to assess safety and risk of assisted reproductive technologies. This work led to the outcome that revealed risks associated with the use of assisted reproductive technologies leading to poor developmental outcome, epigenetic defects, and predisposition to metabolic and/or psychiatric disorders.
