Dr Affinito studied Pharmacy at Federico II University of Naples, Italy. She obtained her PhD, from the same university, in Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology in 2018. Dr Affinito has worked in Prof Condorelli's laboratories where she held her two postdoctoral positions. Dr Affinito’s attitude in different approaches encouraged her to participate in the Erasmus Plus Program and won a 3-month fellowship of Prof Patrick Arbuthnot's lab - Antiviral Gene Therapy Research Unit - at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg (South Africa). Dr Affinito’s main research interest is in the development of RNA aptamers as an innovative therapeutic and diagnostic tool in several types of cancers. Indeed, she has recently won a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships 2020, which is focused on an innovative tool to detect Glioblastoma exosomes on liquid biopsy-based on synthetic aptamer.
